Financial assistance from the Illinois Coal Competitiveness Program was used for the White County Coal Pattiki Mine II expansion project. The photo (at left) shows the mine shaft during construction.
Since its inception in 1996, the Illinois Coal Competitiveness Program has awarded $181.8 million in state funds for coal industry infrastructure improvements and expansion. The program has leveraged more than $2.2 billion in private infrastructure investments across Illinois.
