Short Description

The Employer Training Investment Program (ETIP) supports Illinois workers’ efforts to upgrade their skills in order to remain current in new technologies and business practices, enabling companies to remain competitive, expand into new markets and introduce more efficient technologies into their operations.  ETIP grants may reimburse Illinois companies for up to 50 percent of the cost of training their employees.  Grants may be awarded to individual businesses, intermediary organizations operating multi-company training projects and original equipment manufacturers sponsoring multi-company training projects for employees of their Illinois supplier companies.

Description

Employer Training Investment Program / Competitive Component
Illinois companies that are retraining/upgrading the skills of their existing workforce may be eligible for ETIP grants. Grants may be awarded to individual companies, as well as to intermediary organizations offering training to meet the common training needs of multiple companies.  For more information please contact Cesar Lopez.

Single Company Training Grants

Individual companies undertaking customized on-site training programs may apply for an ETIP grant if they are: expanding the business enterprise in Illinois, expanding into new markets, introducing more efficient technologies/continuous improvement systems, expanding exports from Illinois, and providing additional training to employees who will be threatened with layoff.

Multi Company Training Grants
Intermediary organizations may apply for grant funds on behalf of the companies participating in the project. This organization conducts or sponsors the employee training programs. The intermediary organization coordinated all grant administrative and training evaluation reporting functions on behalf of the companies in the project.
Eligible applications include Illinois-based business and industry associations, institutions of higher education, large manufacturers for supplier network companies, strategic business partnerships, and labor organizations.

Fiscal Year 2009 Program Budget Notice

Due to budgetary constraints, there are currently no funds available for ETIP Competitive projects for FY09 (July 1, 2008 to June 30, 2009).  However, we are continuing to assess availability of funds as they may become available through de-obligation of existing commitments.    A final determination on funds available for competitive projects will not be made until after January 1, 2009.  If funds are available, we will post the application and instructions.  For more information, please contact:
