Trade & Globalization Adjustment Assistance Act
President Obama signed the Trade and Globalization Adjustment Assistance Act of 2009 on February 17, 2009. This new law was part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, which is referred to as the "stimulus bill".  This new legislation has changed the Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) for Workers program.

TAA Waiver Reply Post Card
Download a Microsoft Publisher version of Illinois' 28 Day Review Post Card which can be used for the 28 day contact requirement while a customer is on a TAA Waiver.  NOTE:  The only allowable changes are adding the LWIA phone number and the LWIA return address. 

Federal Per Diem Rates
Federal per diem rates must be used to calculate several of the benefits offered under the Trade Program.   

Calculating Mileage in Illinois
LWIAs can use the Illinois Department of Transportation’s Inside Illinois Route Map Web Site for providing documentation for reimbursement of mileage payments for the TAA program. 

Health Coverage Tax Credit (HCTC) 
Workers who are eligible to receive income support under the TAA program may be eligible to receive tax credits for 80% of the monthly health insurance premium they pay. Qualifying insurance coverage includes COBRA, state COBRA, continuing individual coverage or other state-qualified plans.

    The Illinois Comprehensive Health Insurance Plan (CHIP) is a state health benefits program. CHIP is funded partly by premiums paid by its participants and, to the extent that premiums do not meet anticipated expenses, CHIP may receive an appropriation from the State's General Revenue Fund. Premiums charged may currently be set by law at from 125-150 percent of the average rates charged individuals for comparable major medical coverage by five or more of the largest insurance companies in the individual health insurance market in Illinois.
